Closer to home

So far we've been spared the suffering caused by natural disasters of magnitudes beyond imagining... kalau ada pun setakat banjir and still under control.

But with the earth stirring rather frequently up in sumatera, i'm wondering if our buildings will be up to withstanding the gegaran yang berjangkit dan berkait, after all we're neighbours and the affected areas are practically out in our backyard.

Already some buildings are experiencing cracks.... and itu yang nampak, yang tak nampak macamane? even the selangor state secretariat building isnt an exclusion. right after punching in we were instructed to evacuate. and only after about 15-20 minutes of inspection by relevant autorities baru kitorang was allowed to return to our offices at respective floors. tak rasa pun apa2 gegaran probably because we're down at the podium. its the people up in he tower block yang kena, mesti seriau giler, nak naik balik pun mesti cuak punya la.

Susah juga ek.... kalau the earth movement keep getting closer or the ripple effect keep getting stronger, our buildings yang tak pernah designed with earthquake in mind mesti levelled out in an instant. kalau dah memang tau and is an accepted fact macam kat jepun tu lain la pulak.... semuanya dah ready and accounted for (tu pun kekadang habis hancus gak). tapi kita ni yang boleh dianggap lucky tahap dewa memang tak bersedia.... ntah la ek.

Just hope the twin towers was designed with say a teeny weeny mini quake in mind.... walaupun macam impossible je bunyi nya (cost implications kan) mana la tau kan. i worry about my darling when hes there :(

Well quite an interesting way to usher in the 1st of ramadhan.... enough to wake up the sleep induced braincells still struggling to adjust to waking up seawal 4am.
