A growing aversion

I find my capacity to withstand naggings very much diminished with age. lagi berumur lagi tak tahan telinga mendengar segala pok-pek2 dan sok-sek2 yang tak berpenghujung. ahh i can literally feel my ears burning when someone starts with that hateful tone.

What constitutes nagging actually? its not really the content that determines whether a verbal exchange is going to turn into nagging or not. to me its anything thats repeated again and again and again in a slightly peeved or raised voice, and especially when it's about a matter that's already been ascertained as cant be helped or cant be resolved immediately.

When you've piled on the age like me, you'd like to think you've somehow acquired a little wisdom along the way for people not to treat you like a bozo anymore. and i'd probably be able to get away with it looking as old as i do but i sometimes forget to factor in the existence of the 'older' folk (yup even when you sometimes think there isnt anyone else you need to answer to anymore, kazaam.... there's mak or pakcik, mak de, tok ngah. not to mention your significant other when his good mood deserts him and you're suddenly 'the enemy'). Puh-leze. i have earned the right for some peace of mind surely? i am over 40 after all, bukan budak2.... tak suka cakap tak suka tak payah pok-pek2. isnt some decisions and mistakes mine to make?

I've always been hearing that its the men who absolutely abhors nagging and its usually associated with their wives and mothers. friends have confided in me they sometimes dread going back because their wives dont have anything pleasant to say anymore (what these guyz would constitute as pleasing to the ear is another story altogether lol but of course, years of being stuck together does tend to drain one of interesting subject matter) and somehow it all ends up as complaints. org lelaki semakin berumur semakin hendak dimanja, si isteri pula semakin sibuk melayan selepas anak2, cucu pulak (at the forefront of our minds.. "alaa, kan anak cucu kita gak" but it's not always viewed the same way unfortunately). and with such a 'busy' schedule i guess its so easy to slide into nagging. but first the nagging then the neglect... ahh well, nothing happens overnight and it takes two to tango.

But anyway, about the nagging... its not gender specific. anybody in their right mind would hate such a thing and i wouldnt be surprised if there actually was somebody who's been nagged to death lol. tersiksa jiwa raga. also some people have even carried the art to another level. it comes with this specific 'look' that speaks volumes of the owner's displeasure. ughh. drives me off the wall and because i've been subjected to it most of my life, i have tried my level best not to do the same to my loved ones.

Enough is enough. i heard you the first time.

Oh shah alam nites are now just too beautiful for words. imagine almost every inch to be bathed in wondrous coloured lights. breathtaking and its all part of the fast approaching merdeka day celebration. if only i had a companion to run with, the lights plus the cool nite air would be absolutely wonderful !!! but not only is it that time of the month, i've also had to bring some 'unwelcomed' work home... 15 minutes before punch out time, i get this call from the architect's office requesting an estimate for the new security fence around the istana; meeting first thing in the morning !! aduh apo nak dikato... kan saya yg menurut perintah ?!

How i wish i could be out there running instead.

I am beginning that nagging is not gender specific. The Biggy Boss (a male) is one hell of a nagger; I wish I can book him a one-way ticket to Turkmenistan so that we all can do our work in peace.

btw if u also have suffering in mind for the biggy boss, i dont think turkmenistan is the answer... the hubs who's an 'org minyak' himself has been there a couple of times n has nothing but praise for the 'beautiful' girls there so timbuktu better kot heh.
